Milestones and achievements

Early 1983: AAROH is founded by Late Air Vice Marshal SC Gupta and Mrs. Asha Gupta. AAROH’s first pilot project Navjyoti School was set up in the rear garden of a Moti Bagh house with just four students.

1987: Received government recognition and grant in aid from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

March 1988: Shifted from Moti Bagh to a rented accommodation in Vasant Kunj. Dr. Rajender Kumar Bajpai presided over the annual function.

1991: Shifted to Mahipalpur.

1992: DDA allots land in Vasant Kunj to AAROH, in recognition of the work carried out by AAROH.

December 1995: Shifted from Mahipalpur to new building (still under construction) in Vasant Kunj

November 2000: Building was inaugurated on 19th November 2000 by Mr. BK Jayswal of the Bellini Foundation, USA.

February 2003: Delhi CM, Mrs Sheila Dikshit, visited Navjyoti Institute in Vasant Kunj to grace our Annual Day Function..

2004: Sad demise of Air Vice Marshal SC Gupta, founder and secretary, AAROH, in 2004. Whilst this was a massive setback to our society, he will always be remembered for his passion for the cause and his memory continues to guide and motivate us to fulfil his mission.

March 2009: Completed 25 years of excellence in the field of rehabilitation and had organised national conference based on the theme: ‘Role of Leisure and Recreational Activities in transforming lives of Persons with Disabilities in New Delhi
