AAROH (Association for Advancement & Rehabilitation of Handicapped) is a registered charitable society, founded in 1983 by a few committed citizens and affected parents of disabled children. It is a not-for-profit organisation set up with the objective of alleviating the suffering of children and young adults with intellectual disabilities such as mental retardation and autism.
AAROH is one of the pioneering institutions in the field of intellectual disability, and is recognized by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJ&E) and Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). It is also registered with the National Trust.
AAROH's first pilot project Navjyoti Special School started operations in 1983. An integrated centre to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services was started in 1995. AAROH Teachers Training Centre was established in 2017 to train special educators.
AAROH has been bestowed with numerous awards from time to time, but we believe that the greatest prizes we have received have been the testimonials given by the affected children's parents on the joy of seeing the great progress achieved by their wards
Donations to AAROH are eligible for exemption under section 80G of the Income Tax Act 1961. AAROH has also been authorized to receive donations from abroad (FCRA approval). AAROH is audited by a reputed firm of chartered accountants every year.
Some of the notable organizations that have supported us include the Rotary Club Delhi, FabIndia Vasant Kunj, Delhi Kalyan Samiti (DKS), S J Jindal Trust and others.
We are a grantee of the National Trust, a statutory body of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
